Laparoscopy is an advanced surgical technology, substituting nowadays, most of classical open abdomen surgeries. Laparoscopy is done through tiny holes in the abdomen, which through then a camera and other small instruments are inserted. The abdominal cavity and organs are visualized on a high resolution screen.
The advantages of the techniques over open surgery are closer vision of the organs and finer operating tools and as such, finer operating. The advantages for the patient: less pain, smaller scars, quicker recovery, quicker return to routine, less post-operative infections.
